From Crissy Smith: Creating the
world around Designated Alpha
Hi everyone!
Thank you so much for having me over here at Bookaholic Confessions (I love the name of this blog) and for taking part of day three of my Blog Tour.
I would like to take a minute to introduce you to my newest release Designated Alpha and tell you a little about how I created the world in which it is set.
Thank you so much for having me over here at Bookaholic Confessions (I love the name of this blog) and for taking part of day three of my Blog Tour.
I would like to take a minute to introduce you to my newest release Designated Alpha and tell you a little about how I created the world in which it is set.
I’ve been asked before if my writing
process has me building my paranormal world around the characters or vice
versa.
My only answer to that question is that it depends on the story I’m writing. Both my series’—the Were Chronicles and the Shifter Chronicles—I created the world first and added in the characters I wanted to write about later.
My only answer to that question is that it depends on the story I’m writing. Both my series’—the Were Chronicles and the Shifter Chronicles—I created the world first and added in the characters I wanted to write about later.
In the case of Designated
Alpha, the characters came first.
Even though Designated Alpha is packed with
action and adventure the two main characters, Piper and Jace, are what moves
the story along as they face obstacles and fight for survival. I outlined Piper
and Jace, wrote about their personalities, and what struggles they’d go through
before I started on the world building for the backdrop.
Designated
Alpha follows Piper as she and Jace try to figure out what the fact she is
being able to transform means for them.
There are four major settings which are important to the story. Their house and the beach that surrounds them, the bar Jace owns, the building they travel to in search for answers, and finally the place where they end up.
Each location is important to the story and shows the progression in not only Piper’s abilities but the relationship growth between Piper and Jace. Add in secondary characters that almost steal the show and the novel comes together wonderfully.

adrenaline filled, sexy romance I really hope you’ll give Designated

Piper’s happily ever after has been
postponed. Destiny is funny like that.
In Last Call, Piper Maxwell revealed her
true self to her mate, Jace Anderson. After fighting to survive the night on
which her biggest secret was exposed, Piper believed she’d get her happily ever
after. Too bad fate had other plans.
Jace would do anything to protect Piper.
Finding out who and what Piper truly is seems like the best way to help.
Unbeknown to Jace, though, the more he seeks answers, the bigger the risk he’s
putting Piper and himself in.
All Piper wanted was to run the bar Jace
owned and make her home with the man she loves. Now she’s being stalked by a
scared young man, Jace’s best friend is looking into her past while staying
with them, and they have a meeting with a stranger who shares Piper’s
abilities. Things are changing rapidly and Piper finds herself struggling to
understand what is really going on with her.
Nothing is what it appears to be as Piper
and Jace are captured and held hostage. The only way they’ll be able to survive
this time is if Piper can keep her newest and largest secret yet from the man
who holds their lives in his hands.

Note: This book follows the events in Last Call by Crissy Smith and is best read in sequence.
Excerpt
She must have dozed off because she woke
with Jace gently shaking her. She huffed and stretched before opening her eyes
and peering around. Bobby was lying across Mitch’s legs as the big man
continued to rub his belly.
They both looked very at ease in their
position.
“Are you ready to shift back so we can eat
some lunch?” Jace asked.
She was hungry and knew that Jace planned
to have a barbeque. She stood and nudged Bobby to join her. Bobby happily
trotted behind her as she took him back to where they’d left their clothes.
Jace and Mitch followed behind at a slower pace.
It didn’t take long for them to return to
the clearing. Hopefully Bobby would follow her lead to transform but if not she
could change first then talk him though the process.
When she dropped to the ground, Bobby
copied her. That was good. It looked like he was going to try.
Closing her eyes, she let her body take
over and gave herself to the conversion. Her arms and legs were still quivering
when she was done.
She pushed the hair away from her face and
skimmed her gaze over Bobby as he returned to human form. “You okay?”
You’re the first ones to get such a close
look at the scene that changes things for Piper. This short excerpt is about to
open the possibilities to Piper and what she’ll need to become to save the
people she loves. So don’t forget Designated Alpha is now available and you can
pick up your copy today!
Thanks once again for having me!

About
Crissy Smith:
Crissy Smith lives in Texas with her
husband, daughter, and three Labrador retrievers. The three dogs love to curl
up under her computer desk and nap while she writes. It doesn't leave a lot of
room for her but what's a woman to do?
When not writing or reading, she enjoys
hunting, camping and shooting. But she has a girly side too and is addicted to
pedicures and coffee.
She has been writing since she was a
teenager and still loves everything to do with the paranormal. Her stories and
characters all have a place in her heart. She loves the alpha male, the
dominant werewolf, or the Master vampire which find their way in most of her
books.
Learn more about the characters she has
created at her website where they have their very own page. It will be updated
from time to time to let you know what's going on with them. Also you can find
out who will be in the next book.
