Title: Fighting His Fire
Series: Rock Gods Series #6
Author: Ann Lister
Release Date: August 28
Blurb
Locked-down at a Los Angeles intervention facility, everyone around
Dante Dupont and his Black Ice band mate, Ashton Lane, thought this would fix
the issues between them. Dante and Ashton knew differently. What made this a
hundred times worse was the fact they were stuck in this room together. They
hadn't shared space like this since the one afternoon they both wanted to
forget. And, revisiting that nightmare was not an option . . . with or without
the help of a therapist.
Two musicians. Same band. Afraid to admit their true feelings, being in
close quarters again has them both at their breaking point. They say if you
can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen, but neither of them can find a
reason to leave, and fighting the fire is becoming more and more difficult to
do.
Dante's baggage isn't pretty and his scars run deep, but Ashton might be
the one to finally see beyond his past and help him find a way out from the
smoke screen he's spent his life hiding behind. In order to get there, though,
they'll both have to walk through the flames.

Ashton shook off Dante's
hold on his arm and inched closer. “Why are you doing this? Are you
deliberately trying to bait me into fighting with you? Or do you want me to
leave? Because, I gotta say, I'm real close to punching you in the face
right now and walking the fuck out of here.”
“Why would you do that?” Dante argued. “I seriously
thought you might be interested in the brunette!”
Ashton blew out a breath and ran a hand through his
tangled hair. As hard as he tried to calm himself, it didn't work. He shook his
head, then met Dante's piercing blue eyes head on. “The only brunette I'm
interested in has a dick – not a pussy. Got it?” And, with that declaration,
Ashton stalked off in the direction of the bar. He ordered another beer and a
shot of Jack Daniels. He'd already done the shot when Dante slid in beside him
at the bar. Ashton noticed the fire in Dante's eyes right away. It was never
difficult to detect when Dante had a storm brewing inside of him. The question
was always whether the fire was due to anger or passion and right now Ashton
really didn't know which he'd be fighting. What he wasn't prepared for was
hearing the smooth texture of Dante's voice when he finally spoke.
“Do you want to get out of here, Ashes?”
I thought you'd never fucking ask. Ashton
kept that comment to himself and simply turned away from the bar and Dante's
expressive eyes and walked toward the elevator. He didn't much care if Dante
was following or not, because with or without him, Ashton was leaving.
